I want to remind all of you parents that our boys have the chance to earn an award for their excellence in the classroom to compliment their excellence on the field and in our homes and community. This is a wonderful thing that the NFL and our AYF league does, and we should take advantage of this for our kids. It is called “Academic Achievement Alliance”, and winners get a $500 savings bond as a scholarship plus there are other awards available (I will fill you in as I get further information). Typically, kids with grades of 95% or better can apply. Last year, there were 20 kids from Illinois that received “Academic All American” status, and you can find more on this at the following AYF website: http://www.
To apply for this, you need to make sure that your boys bring their report cards to the certification weigh-in on Saturday at Rolling Meadows. Ideally, I suggest that you bring them to practice this week so I can collect them this week and turn them in myself on Saturday morning on behalf of the Pee Wee team. You can find me at practice all this week, so if you are interested in applying for this, please do not forget to have your boys bring these this week so I can collect them all.
Thanks, Derek
