Trevian Youth Football is the largest and most comprehensive youth football program on the North Shore with participants from 1st – 8th grades from more than 10 different communities. We practice and play our home games in Kenilworth, Wilmette, and Glencoe, and welcome all regardless of where they live. We continue to grow each year with our mission to provide the best youth sports experience possible with the highest level of instruction for football and cheer. Most important are the life lessons the kids learn that will serve them well in the future. We strive to be champions on and off the field and are a Park District Affiliate, 501c3 nonprofit, member Positive Coaching Association, NFL Youth Partner, member Glencoe Chamber of Commerce and Chicagoland AYF.
There are far more kids playing football in High School than any other sport. Football is a full contact sport but interestingly the Mayo Clinic has a study showing that AYF tackle football is less dangerous than other sports including baseball and soccer. Football is great for kids on many levels and we provide a fun place for kids to play of all sizes and skill levels. To do so it is necessary to have a large program and we are the fastest growing youth football program in Illinois.
We differentiate ourselves from the other smaller and more recreational football programs in many ways: higher player to coach ratios, age and weight controlled divisions to provide more safety and level competition, longer season with more games and practices, largest league in Chicago and Nation, All Stars go to Florida, game film study, scholarships, AYF academic achievers, professional skill trainers, cheer program, concessions and announcers at games, insurance, IHSA refs, AYF regional playoffs, AYF national championships, communications/web, spring training... We supplement the program with special events such as NFL player visits, game film meetings, fantasy football leagues, college and high school game outings, pep rallies, national competitions, Official NFL Punt Pass and Kick Competition ... We have been fortunate to send teams and All Stars to AYF Nationals in Orlando Florida and national competitions elsewhere. These are experiences that will last a lifetime.
Chicagoland AYF is in all 50 states and is the largest youth football league serving over 500,000 children. League website: www.chicagolandayf.com
Chicagoland AYF Academic Achievers Awards
Congratulations to Danny Elfman, Zach Pelts, and Dylan Cable. These Trevian Youth Football players have won the $1,000 prize for 2009 Chicagoland AYF Academic Achievement Award! We are proud of your leadership and success on the football field and in the classroom. We also have 16 younger Trevians who won AYF Academic Achievement Awards making 2009 our best year yet with 19 Trevian winners in all.
As 8th graders AYF presented our three 8th graders with award certificates and a scholarship of $1,000 Sunday November 22 at halftime of AYF Championships.
As 8th grade Trevian Football players you are rewarded with a greater prize in recognition of your academic accomplishments. We hope this helps you along your way and we look forward to watching all three of you playing football next year in High School. Again Congratulations.
Mark Rice - President – Trevian Youth Football
Our boys have the chance to earn an award for their excellence in the classroom to compliment their excellence on the field, in our homes, and in our community. This is a wonderful thing that the NFL and our AYF league does for our kids. It is the Academic Achievement Alliance, and winners are eligible to receive $1,000 savings bond as a scholarship plus other awards. Players with grades of 95% or better are eligible. I will coordinate this on behalf of the Trevians football program. The first cut is to determine if you qualify based on this 95% threshold, after which there is an application for each player to fill out to complete the process. - Thanks - Derek Sammann
Trevian Youth Football aims for national championship
November 19, 2009
For the first time in the history of the organization, the Trevian Youth Football Junior Pee Wees will play in the Chicagoland American Youth Football Super Bowl this weekend. The team beat Homewood last weekend in the semi-finals. Winning the AYF South Division, the team will play against Leyden at noon on Nov 21 at Addison Trail High School for the Midwest AYF Championship.
Mark Rice of Trevian Youth Football said the Junior Pee Wees are mostly 5th and 6th graders and are head coached by former Chicago Bear Fred Miller. The team, which reports about half its players coming from Glencoe and Winnetka and the rest from 10 different suburbs, has a record of 13-1 this season, improved from 1-9 last season. The team has had lots of extra work and special events, including spring training, extra scrimmages, and game film study sessions Rice said. The team is travelling to Las Vegas over Thanksgiving and will play two bowl games against teams from Arizona and California for the National Youth Football Championships. -- Liza Roche
